World of Goo
Sometimes you just want to have a little fun, and no, reading the news is not really fun, even if it is the Darwin Awards and makes you chuckle a little bit. The best fun is something you can share with some else too.
Enter the World of Goo! If you haven't tried this amazingly simple, but yet fun and complex and puzzling game, try the demo now, and then (by Oct 25th) you can pay whatever you think the game is worth to buy the full version (Windows, Mac, LINUX!).
They also have it for Nintendo WiiWare as well for up to 4 players (but it's not a "pay what you want" purchase since it's controlled by Nintendo, so it's $15). This is a serious contender for Christmas, since we've got 4 Wiimotes.
Ok, so I know some of you are thinking, life isn't all fun, there must be some work involved. Fine, here is the story about the numbers for sales, as well as the feedback survey for over 3,000 people who chose to complete it. What I read by one person was very insightful, and that is that the "sweet spot" for a game like this is about $7. I tend to agree. $10 feels like too much, $5 seems like it must not be worth it, but $7 feels like I'm paying a little and getting a lot. More data and charts if you're feeling guilty playing a game and need to justify it somehow.
But in all seriousness, I think that Nintendo should have a Demo model for the WiiWare titles. I think if people could try the demo version of this game for free, you'd have a ton of folks buying it for $7 (I think $15 is way more than it should be, but Nintendo likes $5 increments for WiiWare titles).
